Honor God

My Concerns

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

우리나라는 종교의 자유가 보장되다보니, 크리스찬으로 살아가는 데 있어 불편함이 거의 없다. 다만 종교적인 비판에 대해서는 감수할 부분이 있는 점이 있다. 기독교인들은 자신들에게 가해지는 비판에 대해 이단이나 사이비, 혹은 일부의 탈선으로 해명하려는 경향이 있다. 내가 종교에 귀의 하기 전에 가장 비판적으로 보던 시점이 위의 해명이었다. 나는 스포트라이트라는 카톨릭 사제 성추행 비리 폭로사건에 대한 영화를 봤다. 카톨릭의 평신도가 된 이후의 이 영화를 감명깊게 봤고, 교황의 평을 기사로 봤다. 나는 교황의 진심을 알 수 없지만, 공식적으로 영화에 대해 긍정적인 평가를 하는 점에 대해서 존경한다.

 

기독교인으로서 고통받는다고 생각할 때, 우리 스스로가 받게되는 비판을 제대로 수용하고 있는지 고민할 필요가 있다. 왜 우리는 잘못이 없는데 기독교를 비판한다고 생각한다면 오만하다고 본다. 일부 목사의 일탈, 이단과 사이비의 행태라고 말하거나 기독교의 잘못된 행위에 대해 이것마저도 비종교인들의 무지성 비판이라고 치부한다면, 난 진정 기독교인으로 살아가는 태도를 다시한번 재고해봐야 한다고 생각한다.

비판을 건전하게 수용하지 못한다면, 썩는다. 그러면 이단과 사이비를 욕할 명분조차 없어진다.
