Therefore do not worry about tommorrow, for tommorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

7일이 갖는 의미가 종교적인 구절 뿐 아니라 농경사회로 출발한 문명에서 갖는 의미가 있다고 본다. 내 다순 추측일 뿐이지만, 농경을 위해 달력이 탄생하고, 60진법이 고안된 수메르문명처럼 특정 날짜 혹은 요일이 농경에 적합했을 것으로 보인다. 농사는 노동집약적 활동이니 대략 6일정도의 농경생활 이후 적어도 하루는 휴식을 가져야 한다는 결과값이 나온가 아닌가 하는 생각이 든다. 성경에서의 7이 갖는 의미를 너무 피상적으로 탐구한것 같긴 하지만, 왜 인간에 역사에서 종교를 넘어 7일이 갖는 의미가 중요해졌는지 돌아보게 되었다. 신도 6일간 세상을 창조하고 난뒤 7일날 다 끝내고 쉬었다는 말은, 인간에게도 같은 의미로 적용되는 건 아니었을까. 물론 지금은 주4일제가 화두로 오르긴 한다. 신처럼 주6일로 일하기엔 인간에게는 빡세다.
